The Benefits of a Good Aerobics Cardio Workout
It’s official, girl! A good aerobics cardio workout tramps hefting weights in getting rid of your belly fat! (Though I can’t promise it’s less torture! :) )
Researchers from Duke University Medical recently published on the American Journal of Physiology the results of their study of 196 overweight, sedentary adults, aged 18 to 70, who were asked to lose weight via aerobics exercise and resistance training.
The research had one group do 12 miles of jogging per week while the other group did resistance training of three sets of 8-12 repetitions thrice weekly.
If you’re a cubicle warrior 5 days a week, then there’s hope for you to lose that belly fat yet. And even if you’re over 40, losing weight is twice more effective with a good aerobics cardio workout.
The result? Those from the aerobics group burned the kind of fats that filled the gaps between internal organs and those that are buried deep in the belly better. More, the aerobics group zapped 67% more calories from their aerobics cardio workout than did the resistance training group.
Visceral and liver fat—as these fats are known—are the usual suspects in jacking up your likelihood of developing diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer. More good news: a good aerobics cardio workout also “improved risk factors” related to these diseases like bad cholesterol levels, insulin resistance and liver enzymes.
Oddly enough, if aerobics exercise were coupled with resistance training, the benefit that the study subjects obtained was the same as when they did the aerobics cardio workout alone. That’s good news for those you don’t like lifting weights, isn’t it?
Did you enjoy these free cardio workout videos that I found for you online? ;) Take up at least one of these free workout videos and start exercising your way to a healthy weight. Don’t forget, a gentle aerobics cardio workout is better than no exercise at all. What do you think?
